🧱 Prepare for the GenAI & IoT boom: Building blocks for future opportunity
Learning & growing together around GenAI & IoT
This week I want to talk to you about the building blocks 🧱 upon which success is built, and some clever ways that you can use to stack your blocks in your favor.
Full transparency: the idea for this update was born from an epic article I just read called, The Building Blocks of Generative AI by Jonathan Shriftman.
What caught my attention about this article was NOT the high-level education it provides (I defer to this course as the best learning resource for learning the GenAI bare bones).
But rather, what I liked about the Building Blocks of Generative AI article was the time and attention the author dedicated to visually grouping and summarizing the leading generative AI technologies within a framework that emphasizes fast usability of this knowledge.
The “building blocks” that the author has interpreted are succinctly laid out for you below:
One thing that I didn’t like about this author’s interpretation, however, is that model safety is represented as the icing on the cake.
With all of the job losses and societal harms that irresponsible release of generative AI has heaped upon us almost overnight, I think that - as citizens of the world - we should all be DEMANDING that model safety and AI ethics be rooted as the basis of these products (NOT an icing on the cake, afterthought!)

What are your thoughts on this though? I’d love to hear from you! Please hit reply and let’s chat about it.
Continual learning: building blocks for a bright future
In any case, like it or not - the train has left the station and the wisest thing that we can do right now is to prepare ourselves (as much as we are able) for the downstream ramifications that are headed our way…
That’s why I’m happy to inform you that I found another free live training session for you this week…
But first, a poll:
📆 [FREE LIVETRAINING] Build With OpenAI & Kafka for IoT Streaming Data Analytics
The global #IoT market value is expected to be worth $1.6 Trillion by 2025! THAT’S A 5x INCREASE SINCE 2019 (according to the IDC).
And what follows a 5x increase in market value? A proportional increase in jobs for practitioners who can support the build and development of IoT products!
How can we stack our building blocks 🧱 in such a way to prepare ourselves for these future #IoT opportunities? By getting educated and skilled today, of course.
That’s why I’m personally so excited about this week’s free live training!
In just 60-showstopping minutes, you’ll get hands-on learning and a live demo on how to harness #OpenAI to build a real-time streaming analytics IoT application.
Topic: OpenAI & Kafka for IoT Streaming Data Analytics
📆 Time: Monday September 18 at 10 am PDT
It really doesn’t matter in what capacity you’re working, for data professionals and developers like us, it’s imperative that we regularly participate in continuing technical education…
But legacy IoT trainings are all rather dated, and certainly are not educating learners on how to utilize latest LLM technologies to build real-time IoT applications!
The good news? If you're a builder who’s eager to harness the power of #OpenAI with Kafka for real-time IoT analytics, this training session is both FAST and FREE! You really won't want to miss it!
What You’ll Get:
👉 An introduction to the latest tools and technology for real-time streaming analytics and Generative AI LLMs
👉 Step-by-step guidance on building robust IoT analytics applications with OpenAI and Kafka.
👉 Access to valuable code snippets and best practices to kickstart your own IoT analytics projects.
This 1-hour training session will provide you theory, hands-on learning with a live demo, code sharing, and a lively Q&A afterward where you can get your questions answered in real-time.
You’ll walk away with practical knowledge from this lovely technical app-building tutorial.
SAVE YOUR SEAT NOW and we’ll also be sure to send you a replay of the session in case you can’t join us live!
This week on LinkedIn
Big shout out to Fatima Maryam for sharing the building blocks article inside of our 100 Days To Generative AI learning community!
We hit 30 members inside the community last week, and conversations are really starting to heat up! I’m learning heaps from group members already and I’m continually humbled by their accomplishments.
You’re welcome to join and learn with us anytime you wish! Here is the link to join.

Great insights on the building blocks of Generative AI and the emphasis on model safety! I completely agree that AI ethics should be prioritized rather than seen as an afterthought. Also, it's fascinating how the future of IoT is expanding so rapidly, especially with its integration with AI technologies like OpenAI and Kafka.
